About Health Clearances

Due to lack of consistency and scientific data from OFA we have chosen to have OVC screen our breeding stock. OVC screens for hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia with a pass or fail rating leaving the opinion of the radiologist out of the findings, either there is signs of dysplasia or the dog is free of any changes to imply hip or elbow dysplasia.  You might not realize OFA sends radiology films to 3 different radiologists across the US and they view the X-rays and give their opinion (not scientific comparison) as what to grade the hips and elbows being it Fair, Good or Excellent. Unlike OVC and Penn Hip OFA uses the opinion of 3 radiologist not scientific data.
